Onions and garlic

Remember to replace the onions every second day because they rot quickly and it can be poisonous for your pet(s) if any. Garlic can also be chopped and placed in a bowl filled with water.

Peppermint oil

The smell of peppermint oil may be refreshing to us but definitely not to mice. But how to use peppermint oil to drive away mice? Take some cotton balls, dip them in peppermint oil, and place them on the entry points and other spaces in and around the house where mice thrive. You can also use cayenne pepper or pepper and cloves in combination with peppermint or clove oil or both for the same purpose.

Cocoa Powder and PoP

A mixture of PoP (plaster of Paris) and cocoa powder is an effective home remedy to get rid of mice. Mixing 1 tablespoon of cocoa or chocolate powder in PoP is all that is required. Place this on popular mice locations but remember to keep the mixture dry and not watery.

The cocoa’s temptation will make the mice eat it and the mice will later dehydrate. When opting for this method, make sure that the mice do not get a source of water because only then will the mice go outside your house in search of water, suffocate and die.

Kitty Litter

Cats repel mice and everybody knows it, hence nothing can be better than opting for used kitty litter to get rid of mice naturally. If you do not have a cat, you can easily get the litter from a local animal shelter. Note that the litter should contain the cat’s urine i.e. it should be used litter. The smell will repel the mice, and also, you will not have to kill them.
